Frequently Asked Questions
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies based on each athlete’s goals and needs. Concerns like goal setting or performance anxiety are often addressed through short-term, solution-focused work. More complex challenges—such as injury recovery, transitioning out of sport, mental health concerns, relationship difficulties, or grief—may require longer-term support. Evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are often used to support meaningful, lasting progress.
Do you work with athletes of all ages?
We work with athletes across the lifespan—from youth athletes as young as eight to retired competitors in their 60s. While we support athletes at all levels, our primary focus includes elite high school, collegiate, semi-professional, professional, and Olympic athletes, as well as those transitioning out of sport. Each stage brings unique pressures and identity-related challenges, and our approach is tailored accordingly.
What happens if I am injured or transitioning out of sport?
Injury and transition out of sport are significant experiences that often come with emotional and psychological challenges. For injured athletes, counseling focuses on processing feelings of loss, managing uncertainty, and building tools to navigate time away from sport while preparing for a confident return. Transitioning out of sport can be one of the most challenging periods in an athlete’s life. Athletes may experience identity loss, mental health concerns, changes in routine, and uncertainty about their future. Therapy provides space to process these changes, build coping skills, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
How much do sessions cost?
As of 2026, session fees are: Elementary, middle, and high school athletes: $150/hour. College and semi-professional athletes: $180/hour. Olympic and professional athletes: $200/hour. Sliding scale options are available for financial need or short-term support. We accept cash, credit cards, and FSA/HSA payments.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Please notify your counselor directly.
Do you take insurance?
We are currently private pay only and do not accept insurance directly. For in-state athletes, we can provide a Superbill that may be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
What issues do you help with?
We support athletes facing a range of challenges, including anxiety and depression, performance anxiety, identity loss, transitioning out of sport, injury and recovery, burnout, relationship or coaching challenges, and grief and loss. Our approach is tailored to the unique experiences and pressures athletes face at every stage of their journey.
